July 13, Malaga, last full day of our adventure
We wanted to go to the botanical gardens today, but alas, being Monday (Lunes), like many venues, it was closed. So, an easy last day - with warm temperatures again - was spent walking a little - to the main town square for breakfast and after, for a little shopping, and visiting two small museos (museums): a wine museum and what we thought was a costume museum, but which was actually more of a history museum (customs, not costumes!). Then, a little lunch, and a little wine (what else is new?) with fruit from the central market (it's huge with mainly fish, but some other stuff too), and games of Scrabble.
Walking through the square, we were "hailed" by the same mentally ill/damaged chap as yesterday. What were the odds - in this city of 500,000? We were in a different place (not the main busy drag, but more into the town square) than yesterday, but he was sitting outside of a small cafe and saw us pass by. This time, we engaged him in more conversation than yesterday. He thought perhaps that Dave was Woody Allen (some have thought he was Larry David before, but Woody Allen was a first), and started talking about how he used to believe everything presented by the media. I wanted to continue on this thread, but he changed topics quickly to the military (his service) and his working in the corporate world (at Computer Sciences Corporation), his high level of clearances, and more. He had his laptop in front of him, talked about being hacked, and the difficulty of getting back into his email address of 10 plus years, and conversing with his rabbi - in Israel. He wanted us to sit down with him, and although we talked to him more than yesterday, I told him we had to get going - that we were leaving Malaga later in the day (a lie). "Were we tired of Malaga?," he asked. No, we had a flight. Not sure if he got that, but we went on our way. He also continued on his path conversing about his illness, and how his medication makes him lethargic, so he doesn't take it. Damaged people all over the world....and probably a bit of this guy - or more - in all of us.
Our two museums were pleasant, and the wine museum guy told us, when we said we lived in CA, that Napa was world-famous. Temecula...probably, not so much. And, a little wine tasting (2 glasses each) was included in our 3€ admission. Not bad.
We shopped a little (I shopped..not Dave) buying a couple of tops - 4€ each. I'll wear one tomorrow on our flight home. We are leaving behind most of our shirts/tops from this trip. They've served their purpose...and more.

I want to get back to San Diego, but can't help feeling a bit melancholic right now. Hope to post a few reflections when we get back. Thanks for reading.
safe journey back to So Cal --

DeleteYou should frame at least one of the tops you wore or frame the photo of them. Have a safe flight back tomorrow. Be safe!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. We hope to do some recap/reflections sooner rather than later. Or, we may just email a few folks (you, of course!) with our thoughts. Thanks again for following. Our trip home was uneventful, just the way we like it!
